SAFe® is a scaling framework for executing large agile initiatives. It wraps together principles from Scrum and other frameworks and provides additional ceremonies, roles and artifacts. By attending this session you will be in a better position to plan large efforts by aligning people with value streams and establishing a program-level cadence for releases.
SAFe® is appropriate when you have a large number of agile teams that must collaborate to deliver a product. SAFe® builds on base that includes Scrum, Kanban, Extreme Programming, Lean Principles and product development flow, adding new roles, ceremonies and artifacts. For example SAFe® describes the concept of the Agile Release Train (ART), which synchronizes teams to ensure consistent deployment of product to market. A seminal event to manage an ART is a two-day, quarterly, release-planning event, known as Program Increment (PI) Planning. PI planning brings together teams of teams (think 50 to 200 people) in one physical location to plan the work for a deployment.
You will gain an understanding of the Lean-Agile mindset, why it’s so effective in today’s adapt-or-die marketplace, and what it means to lead a Lean-Agile transformation. You’ll also learn how to build and support Agile teams and programs, empower a Lean Portfolio, build a Continuous Delivery Pipeline and DevOps culture, and coordinate large solutions. You will develop a skillset that’s in demand worldwide—and empower their enterprises to succeed in a disruptive marketplace—when you become a SAFe® 4 Agilist (SA).
This Leading SAFe® course is a prerequisite for obtaining the SAFe® Agilist (SA) Certification. Attendees of this course should ideally have taken Certified Scrum Master®, Certified Scrum Product Owner® or other similar introductory course prior to attending this session. This Leading SAF®e course is a prerequisite for obtaining the SAFe Agilist (SA) Certification and it will provide you with the core concepts required for the exam (we pay for your first take at the exam).
This two-day course will prepare you to apply the SAFe® to synchronize alignment, collaboration, and delivery from Portfolio to Program to Team levels. Participants will develop an understanding of how the principles and practices of the framework support Lean, Agile, the Agile Release Train (ART), portfolio management, agile architecture, and scaling agile processes and practices across the enterprise.
During this two-day course, you will gain the knowledge necessary to lead a Lean-Agile enterprise by leveraging the Scaled Agile Framework® (SAFe®), and its underlying principles derived from Lean, systems thinking, Agile development, product development flow, and DevOps. You will also learn and practice the skills for supporting and executing PI Planning events, and coordinating multiple Agile Release Trains (ARTs).
