Policies

Grow-Lean has policies to protect you, fellow students and Grow-Lean.

Familiarize yourself with these policies and use our Contact Us Form if you have any questions.

Cancellation and Rescheduling Policies

Overview of Cancellation Policies

Grow-Lean has policies around situations where you as an attendee, or Grow-Lean as a host, must cancel or reschedule. Grow-Lean's policies are consumer-friendly in recognition that unforeseen things happen, but Grow-Lean asks for thoughtfulness about canceling late so Grow-Lean can continue to put their customers first.

By registering yourself or others for the session, or by being a registrant, you agree to the policies below. If you have any questions, please contact Grow-Lean.

Cancellations

Cancellation requests received at least sixteen (16) days prior to the event will receive a 100% refund minus a 5% credit card processing fee.

Cancellation requests received fifteen (15) to eight (8) days prior to the event will receive a 100% refund minus a 5% credit card processing fee and a $125 late cancellation fee.

Cancellation requests received seven (7) or less days prior to the event will receive a credit equal to 50% of the amount paid that can be applied to any future event that the registrant will take in the next twelve months.

Reschedule Requests

Reschedule requests received at least sixteen (16) days prior to the event will have no fees for the first request. Additional reschedule requests will be subject to a $125 transfer fee.

Reschedule requests received less than sixteen (16) days prior to the event will be subject to a $125 transfer fee.

Grow-Lean Reschedule Events

Grow-Lean tries to avoid rescheduling. If Grow-Lean needs to reschedule, all registrants will promptly receive a 100% refund. Registrants may decide to be transferred into the rescheduled event, or another upcoming event, instead of the refund if they desire.

Grow-Lean Trainer Substitution

In the event where the original listed trainer cannot deliver the course, Grow-Lean reserves the right to substitute a trainer. This is a rare occurrence, but this policy allows Grow-Lean to deliver a course while minimizing the student impact. Trainers provided in this event will have met Grow-Lean's high quality standards to ensure registrants receive valuable training.

Session Attendance and Participation Policies

Session Policy Summary

Grow-Lean policies around class (session) participation and course material usage are designed to protect your privacy, the privacy of other students, the intellectual property rights of Grow-Lean LLC, and to maximize the learning outcome for all. By registering for the session, or by being a registrant, you agree to the policies below. If you have any questions, please contact us via our Contact Us form at https://www.grow-lean.com/ContactUs.

Camera Use Policy

You agree to have a functioning camera, which may be on a secondary device (like a phone) on, and facing yourself for the majority of the training. You may turn your camera off for short periods when needed (like when eating).

If your camera is not functioning, or your bandwidth becomes too limited to support video, you will inform the trainer and participate actively to ensure you stay engaged in the session.

If there is a specific reason why you cannot be on camera, contact Grow-Lean LLC prior to the event so that we can make an exception.

Picture Taking

Grow-Lean will sometimes take pictures or videos during the session. Attendees will be notified in advance. If you do not want to be included in a picture or a video, you may turn your camera off during those times. By keeping your camera on, you acknowledge that your image, or edits thereof, may be used for promotion or other purposes. Grow-Lean will try to ensure that those in a video are presented in a professional fashion.

You may not take pictures of any students in the session without the express consent of all attendees and understand that doing so may be a criminal offense depending on the locations where attendees are participating from.

Student Accountability for Training Outcomes

You may use the Contact Us form at https://www.grow-lean.com/ContactUs, or inform the trainer, or both if you believe that there is anything in the training that is preventing you from having a high quality learning experience.

You authorize Grow-Lean to share your name and email with the certifying body, which, depending on the session, is typically the Scrum Alliance, Scaled Agile or IC Agile.

  • Grow-Lean recommends that you use your personal email address instead of your work email when registering for training.
  • This ensures that you will always have access to your account and certifications while also protecting the privacy of your organization.

Communications via Email and Text

Discounts

Options for your circumstances

Request your discount on the session (a class on date/time with a trainer) you want. If more than one discount applies explain in your comments.

You can pay in up to 12 installments by choosing Splitit at checkout.

For Grow-Lean Alumni, log in or use your account email when registering, and receive an automatic discount. If you also qualify for another discount, request it, and, if your email matches, we know you are an alumni.

If you have a Visa or Mastercard credit card you can pay in up to 12 monthly installments. There are no fees or interest if you pay on time! Your available credit must be enough to cover the full cost and there is a hold on your credit card for the amount that you have not paid.

For example, if your final fee is $1,000 and you chose 10 installments:

  • You would pay $100 today and have a $900 hold placed on your credit card.
  • The following month your credit card would be charged another $100 and the hold would be reduced to $800.
  • Each month you pay $100 and each month the hold is reduced by $100.

If you are not familiar with the term "hold" this is similar to what hotels do when you check in, to cover extra expenses you may incur including the mini bar.

The benefit to you is that you do not pay any interest or fees if all payments are on time.

After entering your request you may email us at Grow-Lean-Training@Grow-Lean.Com or call us +1.609.975.9294 for questions.

David Bulkin

Scrum Alliance: CST | CSP-SM | CSP-PO | CAL 1 | SAFe | SPC | PMI: PMI-ACP

David Bulkin is the Managing Director and Head of Training Services at Grow-Lean. He has 40 years of product development experience and stays current by continuing to engage in product development. In 2001, his eBanking Team at JP Morgan Chase implemented Agile practices under the guidance of Kent Beck, the father of Extreme Programming (XP). David left the bank to help grow the Agile community.

David supports teams and individuals in their Agile journeys as a mentor and coach. Unlike most trainers and coaches, he remains actively involved in product development, taking on roles such as designer, coder, tester, Product Owner, and Scrum Master. His hands-on experience and high-energy level ensure that you get practical and applicable insights in a fun, lively environment.

David's extensive background spans various industries, including manufacturing, marketing, sales, finance, and more. David started developing in 1984 when he built a package to simulate Major League Baseball games and run a fantasy league. After that, he worked on various development projects for the US DoD. In the early 1990s, he built an Internet startup that delivered some of the first profitable sites on the web. In the late 1990s, he joined JP Morgan Chase, where, in 2001, he led eBanking development using agile methods.

He was an independent reviewer of the original PMI-ACP body of knowledge and contributed to the Certified Scrum Master Exam questions. His thought leadership in 2009 on progressive elaboration for Agile requirements influenced what is now known as refinement, which was incorporated into Scrum in 2011.

David has trained over 20,000 students and influenced thousands more through public speaking and coaching. He delivers various training courses, including CSM, A-CSM, CSPO, and A-CSPO, and has trained over 10,000 students with the Scrum Alliance. His sessions are practical, energetic and fun, and based on his experiences in big and small organizations, David customizes the training for your needs so you get a practical perspective that can significantly boost your career.

Earning Your Certification

The Advanced Certified Scrum Product Owner (A-CSPO)

Advanced Certified Scrum Product Owner Logo

At present there is no examination required to achieve the Advanced Certified Scrum Product Owner (A-CSPO) Certification. Taking the session earns your A-CSPO if you meet the requirements outlined below.

  • Attend at least 14 hours of class time.
  • Have a Scrum Alliance® CSPO Certification.
  • Can validate at least 12 months in the role of a Product Owner, or PO Coach over the last five years.

The advanced certification will differentiate you, but more importantly the deep learning will allow you to interview with confidence and apply advanced techniques in the work place.

The A-CSPO also allows you to pursue Certified Scrum Professional Product Owner (CSP-PO) certification, which completes the Path to CSP.

Upgrade and Expand Your Agile Toolbox

Go beyond the basic.

The PO role is challenging and misunderstood. We demystify the process and equip you with the strategies to succeed. We draw from decades of experience and provide innovative problem-solving techniques. You leave with new ideas and practical solutions.

What's most important?
What’s most important: building a new feature, making it better, or keeping your system secure?

This is a trick question. They’re all important, but for different reasons, and require different information to order properly. Making it even more difficult some items fit with, or depend on, others, making prioritization even more difficult. We’ll show you how to balance innovation, iteration and operation work at both a strategic road-map and tactical sprint level, prioritizing each using situationally specific tools.
Unplanned changes in the Sprint?

How do you deal with unplanned mid-Sprint changes?

We’ll practice several techniques from the lean and product management communities for dealing fluidly and systematically with emergency and unplanned work. We’ll also help you prepare for fixed date deliveries, ensure the team has appropriate time to deal with technical debt and process improvements, and show how to avoid both over- and under-committing within the sprint.

Is your Sprint Review a status meeting?

Does your Sprint Review fail as a true product feedback loop and put participants to sleep?

It doesn’t have to be this way. Learn some unique tricks for bringing interactivity, life and practical worth to a session that often functions as little more than a status check to turn it into a session where we align and adjust future plans. You will also learn patterns for running large-scale reviews with many interdependent teams.

  • The practice quizzes are active learning that increases retention.
  • They apply what cognitive science calls retrieval practice.
  • Retrieval practice makes learning challenging which helps you remember the material.

If you have time prior to the session use them as a refresher. Or perhaps, during the session you notice some weak spots and review the quizzes post class to fill in the knowledge gaps.
