It is the starting point on a journey to agility or a reflection point for experienced practitioners. Grow-Lean’s CSM is a reality based, fun, interactive, hands-on, workshop.
After the session we pay for, and register you, with the Scrum Alliance. You can take the exam immediately after the class or you can wait. You take it from any computer/smartphone with Internet access.
After passing the exam you are a Certified ScrumMaster. More importantly you will better position to grow Agile in your organization and advance your career.

David Bulkin is a managing director and head of training services at Grow-Lean. He delivers the CSM, A-CSM and CSPO courses. He certified over 10,000 students with the Scrum Alliance. Unlike most trainers David continues to build systems as a team member, doing hands on work like designing, coding, testing, etc. His commitment to training others, combined with his continued work as a team member, positions him to deliver a classroom experience that will boost your career.
David's thought leadership in 2009 on progressive elaboration for agile requirements, influenced what is now known as refinement (entering Scrum in 2011). David has successfully applied agile to manufacturing, marketing, sales, finance, and other areas outside of IT. He was an independent reviewer of the original PMI-ACP body of knowledge that fed the creation of the PMI-ACP Exam and has worked on the exam questions for the Certified Scrum Master Exam. David has 37 years of work experience, making him an old guy, but no worries, he has high energy and is up to date on modern technologies. David has been applying agile since he got his start in 2001 at JP Morgan Chase where Kent Beck, The Father of Extreme Programming (XP), and perhaps also Agile, was his coach. Via DevOps, XP techniques are growing in popularity today; David is in a good position to help you learn them.
As a hands-on practitioner David has had many roles including Project Manager, Coder, Tester, Business Analyst, Product Manager, Product Owner, and Scrum Master. David continues to build things, including the software serving up this web page, so, if it is broken, contact him.

I live on the East Coast of the US close to New Jersey and Philadelphia. I have been married to one wife for over 25 consecutive years. Somehow our marriage survived lock down. I have two daughters, one in college saving us money by living at home. The other in middle school. Our family recently got our first big pet, a rescue cat. I love the kids but think the cat is easier; the worse thing she ever does is scratch furniture. Seriously though, the wife and kids are great!
I am known for high energy and keeping it fun, so, if you attend a session with me, you won't be bored.

It added more to it: the agile framework, that was only introduced at the CSM, here was one of the key sections we went through. Performing mini "case-studies" as we go through the material is extremely helpful in learning how to apply and see real world examples of Scrum implementation. All of the material covered during the training, plus David's advice to read the Scrum Guide several times and take the practice exam, totally prepared me for the exam, which I passed with flying colors this week! One of the things I also got a lot of value from was how David engaged all students to share real world experiences. This helped to solidify the concepts and get us beginners to think more along the lines of the Scrum framework, i.e. Scrum teams, their roles, events, rules and artifacts. The training was excellent and worth every penny!

I'm a full time teleworker so while I was looking forward to the in-person training, the virtual classroom was not much of a stretch. I must admit that it felt like there was definitely a lot more that we could have covered but then preparing for a virtual classroom on the eleventh hour was not something that David expected. He made it work though. In my opinion, he covered what was really important and that is, what the Scrum framework is all about, how to apply it to your own work and give you the foundations to be prepared for the exam. I didn't expect to know everything after leaving his class and that's okay. It gave me enough to be able to apply some things at work with what I learned in class. Refund Policies
Grow-Lean commits to canceling classes as a last resort and we expect a similar commitment from attendees
There may be situations where you as an attendee, or Grow-Lean as a host, has to cancel. We realize that you made a commitment when you registered so we try to avoid cancellations. If we cancel less than sixteen (16) days prior to the scheduled event start date, due to low enrollment, and you wish to come to another of our events, we provide you a $150 discount.

A refund, minus a 5% credit card processing fee, will apply for all refunds irrespective of when a request is made.
An additional $75 charge will apply for a cancellation or class change that Grow-Lean receives seven (7) to fifteen (15) days prior to the scheduled event.
No refunds will be issued for a cancellation or class change that Grow-Lean receives less than seven (7) days prior to the scheduled event start date. However, we will credit the amount paid toward a future event (reducing the cost for the future event) in the next six months. Attending a future event will incur a $150 transfer fee.

Grow-Lean reserves the right to cancel an event. Class cancellation notice will be provided via email and/or phone call, and a full refund will be issued promptly.
We try to avoid cancellations. In the unlikely event we cancel due to low registration, and if we cancel less than sixteen (16) days prior to the scheduled event start date, we will refund your money or provide you a $150 discount towards a transfer into another one of our upcoming events.

After you register we will provide instruction to prepare you for the session, including information on how to work with our team to ensure that your technology is configured for the event. If you have problems, no worries, unlike most training companies our team has over a decade of experience delivering online, and we are ready, willing and able to help you setup prior to the event.
Preparation Checklist
Follow the checklist below to ensure you have what you need. Have problems; no worries, we will assist you with the technical setup and we will get with you, prior to the training, to make sure you are ready.
- Computer with a webcam: The vast majority of laptop have integrated webcams. If you don't have that, we will help you setup your phone as a webcam.
- A working headset or speaker plus microphone: Many people use their smartphone ear-buds.
- Zoom Client: Download the Zoom client at, https://zoom.us/download. After the download, install it.
- Access to Google Docs. Test your access at https://drive.google.com/. If you don't have Google Docs access we will work with you to ensure your training quality.
- A location from which to participate: Ideally this location will have good lighting and be relatively quiet.
- Training Material: After registration you will get a link download course material. You can print this material, or view it online.
- Getting into the Session: After registration you will provided information on getting into the session.
What is the Class Like
Worried that an online training won't be engaging? Think again, our training events have numerous interactive elements including games, exercises and group breakouts. In a breakout, you are in a virtual room with a small number (usually three to six) of other class participants. When you are breakout room, you and the other members are separated from the rest of the class.
- Breakout Discussions: Each session varies a bit, but you will generally be in a breakout discussion, with a small group of participants, 10 times a day or more. The breakout provide an opportunity for intense, small group discussion. Ideas are then shared with the entire class.
- Exercises: We have numerous exercises tuned for virtual delivery. These are delivered across the class as a whole and in breakout groups.
- Games: Yes, actual games, where people laugh and have fun; serious fun, that increase retention and learning.

David has 36 years experience delivering software and systems and has been applying agile methods for 19 years across the entire value stream from strategy and product ideation to development and support. As a hands-on practitioner David has had many roles including Project Manager, Developer, Tester, Business Analyst, Product Manager and ScrumMaster.
As a coach and consultant, David helps organizations adopt and expand their use of agile by working with change agents, teams, PMOs, managers and executives. Pass the exam with confidence
We register you within 10 minutes of class end. You receive an email from the Scrum Alliance with an exam link. You can take it from any Internet connected computer from anywhere you want; you don't need to go to a test center.
The exam is available within minutes of class end. If you want to wait you have up to 90 days from the start of the class.
The exam consists of 50 multiple choice questions and you have 60 minutes. You need to get 37 questions correct. If you don't, Grow-Lean will work with you to create a study plan, and review with you. There will be no charge for this extra assistance.
The workshop will provide the knowledge required to pass the exam. You can also review the pre-reads which provide additional content to help you prepare. But, this is course is more than exam prep as getting a certification in itself doesn't get you a job, or help you do your job. This sessions provides you need deep understanding of what agile methods are and how to apply them in the workplace.

In some sessions, you will create skits, games and other learning aids, then use them in the classroom to teach others, applying an agile process to create these learning aids, thus learning agile by doing agile.

Discounts
Early-Bird, Group, and Unemployment Discounts
There are number of discounts set aside for each session for Grow-Lean Training alumni, those registering early, groups of three or more, for the unemployed, and in a limited number of cases, for those paying on their own.
If you are an alumni you get an automatic discount, at checkout. Register now as there are specific number of discounted seats per each session.
We will respond to your request in no more than one business day, usually much faster than that.
There are a number of rules governing discount codes, please review them.
- The Alumni Discount can be combined with the Early-Bird Discount. Other discounts are not combinable, only one can be used at a time.
- If you want to register for two sessions, register for the first and request the Alumni Discount for the second.
- Each class has a limited number of discounts.
- You must provide supporting information for Hardship and Self-Pay Discount requests.
- Grow-Lean reserves the right to audit, and/or deny a discount request.
- Honesty is expected when requesting a discount so that they can be provided to those most in need.
