Refund Policies
Understand What Happens if You Can't Attend
We try to avoid cancellations, and do not cancel late due to low enrollments. If we do, we give you a discount. We expect you to be similarly respectful; so there are fees associated with cancellations to cover a portion of costs we incur, including credit card processing and catering fees.

Refund Policies
Grow-Lean commits to canceling classes as a last resort and we expect a similar commitment from attendees
There may be situations where you as an attendee, or Grow-Lean as a host, has to cancel. We realize that you made a commitment when you registered so we try to avoid cancellations. If we cancel less than sixteen (16) days prior to the scheduled event start date, due to low enrollment, and you wish to come to another of our events, we provide you a $150 discount.
Please review the information below to familiarize yourself with the policies.
A refund, minus a 5% credit card processing fee, will apply for all refunds irrespective of when a request is made.
An additional $75 charge will apply for a cancellation or class change that Grow-Lean receives seven (7) to fifteen (15) days prior to the scheduled event.
No refunds will be issued for a cancellation or class change that Grow-Lean receives less than seven (7) days prior to the scheduled event start date. However, we will credit the amount paid toward a future event (reducing the cost for the future event) in the next six months. Attending a future event will incur a $150 transfer fee.

Grow-Lean reserves the right to cancel an event. Class cancellation notice will be provided via email and/or phone call, and a full refund will be issued promptly.

David Bulkin is a managing director and head of training services at Grow-Lean. He delivers agile/lean training and consulting to individuals, teams and organizations.
David serves a catalyst to expedite the journey from plan driven to adaptive methods. David is known for practicality and achieving results. He helps individuals grow their careers while leading organizations on the path to higher ROI.
David has 35 years experience delivering software and systems and has been applying agile methods for 18 years across the entire value stream from strategy and product ideation to development and support. As a hands-on practitioner David has had many roles including Project Manager, Developer, Tester, Business Analyst, Product Manager and ScrumMaster.
As a coach and consultant David helps organizations adopt and expand their use of agile by working with change agents, teams, PMOs, managers and executives. As a speaker David regularly presents at the two major agile conferences, the Scrum Gathering and Agile 20xx, as well as at regional events. David is active in the agile communities including Scrum, Extreme Programming, Lean, Kanban, and SAFe.
David has provided thought leadership in areas such as applying progressive elaboration to agile requirements, integrating engineering principles into development teams, and applying agile to marketing, sales, finance, and other areas outside of IT. He was an independent reviewer of the PMI-ACP body of knowledge that fed the creation of the PMI-ACP Exam and has worked on the exam questions for the Certified ScrumMaster Exam.

The Scrum Alliance Certified Product Owner® Certification was the first certification in the agile community to focus on product management. Product Owners apply an effectiveness paradigm, ensuring that we deliver those items that are most likely to increase company ROI, add value for the customer, and maximize learning. The continual learning from each release is used to adjust plans for future releases.
During this session you will hone your skills by breaking large chunks of work into smaller slices, prioritizing them, and then describing them to the extent necessary for a development team to build. You will focus on the strategy of what to build, and in what sequence, putting you in a position to lead both the strategy and technical execution aspects of product ownership. You will learn how to do all of this in a deep collaboration (no you don't talk to users and write stuff up for others to build, at least not anymore) that spans the organization, including business partners, end users, quality assurance (QA), developers, business analysts (BA) and even end users.
After successful completion of the course, and acceptance of the license agreement, you will be registered as a Scrum Alliance Certified Scrum Product Owner®. More importantly, you will be in a better position to help your organization apply agile methods to drive effectiveness. In addition to the Product Owners, anyone involved in product development, including business users, business analysts, testers, coders, etc., often take, and benefit, this session.

Go beyond the mechanics of collecting requirements and learn how to empirically discover what to build

A good Product Owner (PO) ensures that we deliver what was asked for, a great Product Owner leads a discovery
process to deliver what is actually valuable
(what is asked for and what is valuable are often not the same).
The PO ensures that items that are most likely to increase company ROI, add
value for the customer, and maximize learning are built, then released. The development and release processes generate learnings that guide future releases. By continual
learning you can ensure long term success even in the face of short term failures.
After the session you will be registered with the Scrum Alliance as a Certified Product Owner®. More importantly, you will have the conceptual basis on how to determine:
- Why: clarify the vision and measurable goals
- What: collaboratively and iteratively define the functionality
- When: prioritize on value (to business, users, and for learning)
- Done: determine when stories, features and releases are complete
You will apply the Scrum framework to product development and practice a dual-track readiness maturation process to prepare your team for release planning and sprint planning events gaining a practical perspective on applying the roles, artifacts and ceremonies of Scrum via hands on exercises, discussion and simulation.
You will learn how a variety of other frameworks strengthens Scrum and allows you to maximize value delivery.
- XP and DevOps®: XP (Extreme Programming) is a Scrum superset for engineering excellence, including, among other things Test Driven Development (TDD), refactoring (keeping a code base clean) and continuous integration (build and test at least daily). DevOps builds on XP and adds continuous delivery (CI/CD) so that you can get to market, and learn, faster.
- SAFe®, LeSS®, Scrum@Scale®: Scaling frameworks that provides additional roles, ceremonies and artifacts to work across multiple teams.
- Kanban: Known for visualizing, limiting WIP creating flow, and making policies explicit. We focus on Kanban for your readiness pipeline (refinement).
- Lean Startup®: An approach to mitigating business risks by getting to market quickly with a release that is also an experiment, learning from it, and adapting based on leanings. These concepts are critical to all PO's, in startups and large companies alike.

Early-Bird, Group, and Unemployment Discounts
There are number of discounts set aside for each session for Grow-Lean Training alumni, those registering early, groups of three or more, for the unemployed, and in a limited number of cases, for those paying on their own.
Act now as there are specific number of discounted seats per each session.
We will respond to your request in 24 hours.
There are a number of rules governing discount codes, please review them.
- The Alumni Discount can be combined with the Early-Bird Discount. Other discounts are not combinable, only one can be used at a time.
- If you want to register for two sessions, register for the first and request the Alumni Discount for the second.
- Each class has a limited number of discounts.
- You must provide supporting information for Hardship and Self-Pay Discount requests.
- Grow-Lean reserves the right to audit, and/or deny a discount request.
- Honesty is expected when requesting a discount so that they can be provided to those most in need.
- The supply of discounts is limited as we often need to lock in the room setup approximately six or more weeks prior to the training.
- If you receive a discount code it will remain valid until the time limit or total count threshold is reached, whichever is first.

We appreciate our alumni and often provide discount for prior attendees of Grow-Lean Training. If you are not an alumni but are signing up for two sessions, sign up for the first and request the discount for the second. Self-Pay Discounts are worth up to $200 off regular price. There are no Self-Pay Discounts available for this session and the Early-Bird Discount has also expired.
